Residential Developments
Victoria Court
One of the Collins family’s greatest achievements was the purchase, redevelopment and sale of the old Victoria Eye Hospital. It has been a Landmark building of Hereford City for the entire 20th Century.
Its redevelopment carried a massive responsibility to ensure both the refurbishment and the new build were constructed showing a strong link between old and new with sympathy and prominence for the features that are such a part of a bygone age.
The Victoria Eye Hospital was originally built in 1888/89 and was named as a fitting memorial to Queen Victoria’s jubilee. The original period building is now converted into 6 apartments and in addition to the conversion of the orginial building, a mixture of new build townhouses and apartments have been built in the grounds providing a smart, modern, convenient development in the heart of Hereford.
Attention to detail surpassed all expectations with top quality kitchens and bathrooms. All the feature sash windows were replaced with new hardwood double glazed units. Clay paviors were used to create a colourful, attractive and modern feel to all the car parking and access areas for future generations to enjoy.
Midway Court
The development is situated on the edge of the city and is within walking distance of Hereford’s main employment area. It is a block of 7 apartments which consisted of four two bedroomed and three one beds. Ideal for first time buyers.
Roman Way, Longtown
The Collins family bought the land, designed the houses, obtained Planning Permission and developed the site.
The surrondings of such a rural setting as Longtown were blended with modern building techniques to form a unique group of country dwellings sympathetic to the environment.
The computers assisted model demonstrates our ability to create realistic 3 dimensional images to assist both the client and the Planning Authority through the sometimes challenging design process.
Industrial & Commercial
Allpay
Allpay Limited have been one of Herefords most succesful companies in recent times, expanding from 30 employees to over 200 in a space of about 5 years. Collins Design and Build supplied the land, obtained the Planning Consent, designed the buildings in conjunction with the client and built them.
The detailed internal design includes a spiral staircase, stainless steel handrails and wall finishes which were all part of the total package.
As you can see the facilities with the Bistro for the staff to eat and drink in relaxing and decorative surroundings are second to none.
Brightwells of Leominster
Brightwells of Leominster and Hereford have a long and distinguished history in the County. The changing landscape of Farming practices brought on the need for a new headquarters with improved access, services and a large car park to complement the significant 4 × 4 Auction business which existed at Easters Mart, Leominster. Collins Design and Build designed, obtained Planning Permission, Constructed and Project Managed the whole task. It has proved to be a popular premises which has significantly enhanced this Historic business.
“I write to thank you and your team most sincerely for the first class job you have done in completing the construction of our new headquarters at Easters Court, Leominster, on time and on budget. I have been amazed at how stress free the whole project was. Nothing has been too much trouble and problems are merely challenges to be overcome.”
Richard Grainger, Joint Managing Director, Brightwells
HFT
Another successful Hereford business is the Fork Truck sales, service and training faciliilty that is HFT.
The family business of Peter & Carol Crawford chose Collins Design & Build to build its new headquarters from a competitive list of tenders and are extremely pleased with the result. Their business has enjoyed accelerated growth since moving into their impressive new premises at Rotherwas.
Beacon Business Park
The Doouss family and their associates saw Hereford as a good place to move to and bring up their families. They are part of a Christian fellowship and have sought to relocate their business at Beacon Business Park, Rotherwas, formerly Westfields Football Ground. The Collins team again, sold them the land and developed the Industrial units which serve the community so well.
Universal Beverages
When Universal Beverages Ltd was formed as a joing venture between David Hepworth and Scottish & Newcastle, Collins were brought in as Management Contractors for the Construction of a 4,500 sq metre (48,420 sq ft) Concentrate Store.
A sizeable area of the building has a 3m deep “Pit” to allow room for the very tall evaporators and storage tanks for the concentrated apple juice.
The building together with 460m access road, gatehouse and weighbriges was completed in seven months ad fully operational in readiness for the 2008 apple season. A feat which many had predicted was unachievable.
Swimming Pool
This building really demonstrates the ability of Collins to produce something different in this swimming pool. The building was constructed in 2002 and the walls and their Dolphins are created from bricks, cut precisely to shape.
